Welcome to the Neurohistory Web!

Neurohistory represents a perspective on history drawing upon insights from the cognitive sciences. It is an inferential approach that offers great potential for fundamental understandings of cultural formations, cultural transitions, and new behavioral patterns that, in the aggregate, drive apparent historical trends. From a different viewpoint, neurohistory is also a framework for exploring how cultural structures interact with and shape the brain-body system.

We believe that the website can serve as a useful resource for historians and other social scientists interested in engaging with the insights that can be gained from this endeavor. As a rapidly developing field defying rigid disciplinary confinement, neurohistory demands a dynamic medium for disseminating developments. We hope to bring together a broad range of scholars from around the world interested in the implications that the brain sciences may hold for history. Please join in and explore the site!
